About Eliza

Eliza Betteridge, CMHC

Hello! My name is Eliza Betteridge and I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor in Salt Lake City, Utah. I opened my own practice to focus on the element of emotional healing that speaks to me—being grounded in the beautiful natural world right outside our doorstep. I am passionate about helping others reconnect more meaningfully to themselves and to their significant relationships, and beyond that to their environment as well, for a sense of holistic wellbeing and belonging.

I have lived in Utah since 2021, previously a resident of Chicago and spent my childhood in Iowa. I moved to Utah to enjoy this state’s incredible natural beauty. In my free time I love to backpack and camp, hike, scramble off trails, snowboard and ski, play with my dog, read, write, and draw, attend live music events, and spend time with friends.

BA in Psychology - University of Chicago 2015

MA in Mental Health Counseling - Northwestern University 2021

Eliza’s Therapy Approach

I am experienced in a range of therapeutic modalities that I integrate to provide a customized experience for each client. This includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT), Feminist therapy, Existential therapy, Advanced Resolution Therapy for processing trauma (ART), and more.

My approach empowers clients to embrace their authentic selves, especially those who may feel they don't fit traditional molds, including individuals with neurodivergence, non-conforming identities, or those in non-traditional relationship styles. I'm passionate about helping people discover their own path and build a life that truly resonates with who they are. I specialize in helping clients explore deep, meaningful questions while building strong, trusting relationships with healthy boundaries. Therapy is a place to be heard, supported and empowered to work through anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, traumatic history, and more that is holding you back. All with the healing backdrop of nature. I believe in every human’s potential and process of discovery using their own strengths and wisdom. I honor our unique needs and roles while understanding the contexts of our culture and society that have shaped our experiences. I believe learning is most effective when we can experience it, beyond talking about ideas, but to feel it somatically in our bodies.

In our sessions together we'll create a safe, compassionate space where you can explore, heal, and grow. Let’s embark on this journey together, finding balance and peace through the connection between mind, body, and nature.
